AGT has adopted a new seed commercialisation model with the establishment of a network of seed producer/processors (AGT Affiliates) who will be responsible for production, grading, sales and distribution of all our new and existing varieties
AGT have moved to purely a foundation seed production company and will also provide technical support to retailers and wholesalers. The aim is to maintain the quality of seed but reduce the cost and improve the volume of seed available to the reseller network and ultimately growers. The basic structure of the new model is:
- Selected operator/processor are to contract seed production within their area
- Responsible for the crop QA & processing
- Wholesaler/retailer within their area – local promotional activities
- AGT responsible for majority promotion including trials and evaluation
- AGT will continue to look after the EPR program
With the introduction of this new distribution system AGT will no longer capture any wholesale margin at the time as removing one link in the seed distribution chain with the end result of more economically priced planting seed to the broadacre farmer.
