The National Triticale Improvement Program is an initiative funded by GRDC and is managed by AGT under the direction of Triticale breeder James Edwards (Roseworthy based).

This program develops varieties for the primary triticale production areas of Australia with major focus on high quality feed grain types and some emphasis on dual purpose grazing and hay end uses.

It also focuses on resistance to the current and future prevalent pathotypes of leaf, stem and stripe rust, and resistance to cereal cyst nematode (H.avenae)
